AUDITION NEWS

Invisible Cabaret is a burlesque and vaudeville variety troupe centred around mental health awareness. Through song, dance, comedy, striptease and much more, this edgy young troupe seeks to open new conversations about mental health.

Invisible Cabaret debuted in the glamorous King’s Head Private Members Club in Shoreditch, funded by a Kickstarter campaign which exceeded its initial targets. Since then, the troupe have gone from strength to strength, playing sold-out shows around London to wide audience acclaim.

As always, Invisible Cabaret is always on the look out for singers, dancers, burlesquers, spoken word artists, comedians, musicians, variety acts (hula hoopers, poi professionals, diabolo divas, etc.!) who are passionate about advocating for greater mental health awareness.

We are especially interested in hearing from: burlesque artists, keyboard players, drag artistes.  The troupe is currently all-female, but all genders are welcome at auditions!

WHEN?

Sunday 8th July 2018.

Individual slots will be given (see below), but these will take place between 3 – 6pm.

WHERE?

London. Exact location tbc.

WHAT?

Please prepare 2 minutes of material that you feel best represents you and what you would bring to the troupe. This material does not have to be mental-health-themed at this stage, though if you have inspiration already then we would love to see it!  The troupe is highly collaborative, so all original work is greatly sought after.

HOW?

To book your audition time, please email invisiblecabaret@gmail.com. In your email, please tell us your full name (and stage name where appropriate), the skill you will be showcasing, and what has drawn you to the project. Any previous experience should also be outlined.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 1st July at 20.00. We will reply with your audition slot by 20.00 on Wednesday 4th July. Each audition slot will be roughly 15 minutes long, to give us time to enjoy your work and chat a little bit about the project.

WHAT FOR?

Our next performance dates are for Makemore Festival in Victoria Park, Thurs 23rd – Mon 27th August.  Please make sure you are available for these dates before you apply for an audio slot. Rehearsals will take place over July and August on a fairly flexible basis. If there are any dates for which you are unavailable during this time frame, please let us know, either by email or in person during your audition.

See you there! xo

Invisible Cabaret: Please Stay

We are delighted to announce that we will be performing a special, one-night-only show on Friday 15th June! We are even more delighted to announce that 90% of proceeds from the evening will be going directly to UK-based mental health charities, to support them in the crucial work they do for the hundreds of thousands of us who need it.

Invisible Cabaret: PLEASE STAY

The title of the show is a sentiment close to our hearts as a troupe, as many of us have had firsthand experience of losing, or nearly losing, someone dear to us due to that person’s own deliberate decision. We hope to honour the memories of those who are no longer with us, whilst also exploring the grief of those left after such tragic events, through song, dance, striptease and much more. Of course, in true Invisible Cabaret style, we will be balancing this with comedy, original songs, and a lot of glitter and sass, as we celebrate all the many reasons life, for all its sorrow, is still worth living. It’s going to be an honest, emotional, and overall uplifting evening, and all going to a great cause.

  • Friday 15thJune 2018
