Right away, there was something eerily familiar in Vecna’s use of guilt and shame to trap his victims – the excruciating and relentless replay of painful past experiences. It was Max’s battle with the villain, however, that switched on the lightbulb in my head. In particular, Vecna’s dialogue in this scene rang an ominous bell: “There’s a reason you hide from them… you belong here with me.”
We’re back, baby! Join Invisible Cabaret for a night of burlesque and variety entertainment, all served with our signature mental-health-themed twist.
Trixie Kixx is a powerhouse queer woman with a passion for body confidence centred around how movement makes us feel, not what we look like. She regularly performs with House of Burlesque and teaches lessons in London and online. Join us as we chat about burlesque, practising body positivity/ body neutrality as a dancer, and more.
Ferrero Rochelle and Rosie Verbose are joined by multi-award-winning burlesque dancer and PhD student, Sammy Sparkles! This stunning performer joins us all the way from Perth, Australia, to talk about what mental health and artistic expression mean to her.
Our favourite mental health and sex-positivity icon, Reed Amber, joins us on the Invisible Cabaret odcast this week! You may know Reed best from her work with Florence and the gang over at Come Curious, or from their podcast, F*cks Given.
We hope you’ve stretched this morning, because we’re chatting to performer, producer and Solid Gold fittie, Lena Mae Lenman! Lena is an irrepressible creative force, whose outlets include the Hundred Watt Club, photography, and 80s fantasy aerobic program, Solid Gold Fitness. She brings her bubbly personality to the podcast, as well as her long history of neo-burlesque performance, to inform a chat that ranges from dressing up to stripping off, and why laughing is the best of all ab workouts!
Join us as we talk to the one-woman powerhouse, model/photographer/stylist/siren Sinopa Rin! Rin was gracious enough to pop her podcast cherry with Ferrero Rochelle & Rosie Verbose. We talk about the Internet modelling scene, life through the lens and regaining autonomy through self-portraits, among other ways Rin’s creativity & mental health intersect.
In nature, everything stops. Or rather, slows down. You’re left only with yourself, your thoughts, the core of existence. The business of the city, the stress, the never ending cycle of hustle fades away and you have to sit in your feelings for a bit. Now that, that’s scary.
Are you a performer with a personal passion for mental health? Do you want to be an advocate for mental health through your performing art? Invisible Cabaret wants to see you!
Ferrero Rochelle & Rosie Verbose had a fascinating time chatting to burlesque performer, Hoxton Cabaret producer & founding member of Cybertease (a pioneering online strip club), Victoria Rose! She joins us to talk about being a SWer with Borderline Personality Disorder, and how creativity and mental health intertwine in her life.
