Invisible Cabaret at the Vault Festival

We had a marvellous time bringing our new flagship show, Let’s Get Visible, to the Vault Festival in London this month. We could talk about it for ages, but we know you’re busy people, so here are the headlines.

We were surprised and delighted to find out we were nominated for an ‘After Dark’ Late Show Vault Festival award! Given that there were 400+ number of shows and over 2,000 artists at the Vault Festival this year, we were thrilled to have our work recognised by the Vault team. Thank you to everyone who made it possible!

Don’t you think the gif lady above is a doppelgänger?!

We received two wonderful reviews, one from Ian on There Ought to Be Clowns theatre blog, and one from Fran at The Velvet Box Office. You can read the full reviews by clicking on the links above. To whet your appetite, here are a few excerpts:

Velvet Box Office

‘Most importantly, this all-woman spectacle tackles some big issues sensitively, and with great heart. On two occasions I got so choked up it was impossible to applaud at the end, though I left feeling buoyed, rather than maudlin. My lovely Plus One said at the end that she wished she could have seen something similar to this when she was a teen and, I believe the company would agree, there is no greater accolade than that.’

‘Among that group is Invisible Cabaret, a cabaret and burlesque troupe whose show Let’s Get Visible is tackling these taboos in their own inimitable style. And though burlesque may not seem like the most obvious artform in which to do so, it proves surprisingly effective here…

‘There’s also a lightness of touch on display too. I adored Tootsie’s idea of a perfect date, full of self-care, and Mouncealot’s pseudo-lecture on PTSD and BPD was just fricking hilarious. And as we wind up to a really rather joyous balloon-bursting climax with Ferrero Rochelle, there’s a real sense of Ferrero Rochelle & Rosie Verbose’s show so very well working on multiple levels.’

We are so lucky to have had the incredible Steve Gregson with us on the Friday night to take some stellar photos for you all! Sadly missing the fabulous Mouncealot who was only with us on the Thursday, but that meant we got extra time with gorgeous Blue Monday, who sang for us in her stead.

We’ve chosen a few of our favourites to share with you below, but there’s many more where that came from… Keep your eyes on our Instagram for more! While you’re there, you can also check out some cheeky videos from our Friday performance, available to watch on our IGTV channel. Big thanks to Tara Fer-Now, our marvellous Stage Manager and Head Kitten, for capturing our wonderful acts and audience response on film.

We’ve got much more in our hearts and in the pipeline, so stay tuned… You can keep up to date with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
